Four elite fae warriors. One mortal female. A magical bond they can’t allow – or resist.

Orphaned and sold to a harsh master, Lera’s life is about mucking stalls, avoiding her master’s advances, and steering clear of the mystical forest separating the mortal and fae worlds. Only fools venture into the immortal realms, and only dark rumors come out… Until four powerful fae warriors appear at Lera’s barn.

River, Coal, Tye, and Shade have waited a decade for their new fifth to be chosen, the wounds from their quint brother’s loss still raw. But the magic has played a cruel trick, bonding the four immortal warriors to… a female. A mortal female.

Distractingly beautiful and dangerously frail, Lera can only be one thing – a mistake. Yet as the males bring Lera back to the fae lands to sever the bond, they discover that she holds more power over their souls than is safe for anyone… especially for Lera herself.

Power of Five is a full-length reverse-harem fantasy novel.

Alex Lidell is a great author and I know that after reading “Air and Ash” (which I gave 5 out of 5 stars). So I could not have expected any less from her. And she delivered on that completely. “Power of Five” is a great story about bonding, forming relationships and not giving up on the people close to you.

The blurb is explaining enough of the action already so I will focus more on the reviewing part. We have a human main character, bonding with 4 immortal beings, 4 immortal powerful beings. They are supposed to form a group that has the mission of guarding the boundaries between realms. All is well, until the four guys meet the fifth member of the group. Apparently weak and innocent, Lera holds the power of their souls. And most importantly, she has a way of talking to every other guy in the group. She is somehow what links them together. Because as immortal and powerful as they are, River, Coal, Tye, and Shade cannot be more different.  Lera finds a way to communicate with all of them and gain their respect. But she is also their weakness and they all know they cannot afford to be weak.

I liked the writing, as I mentioned, Alex is an amazing writer and she has a way of developing the characters like no other. But I would have wanted more details about the world and how these groups came to be. I would have wanted to see an even stronger Lera, but I am sure this will happen in book 2 (which is already out, by the way!).  I have no other complains in regards to the book.  I may not be as confortable with harems as I am with normal romances, but the plot is incredible and the relation between characters is well built.

The narration was phenomenal!!! Victoria Mei did such a wonderful job with all the accents and she managed to capture all the four guys’ personalities in her voice acting. For that and all the effort she put into reading this book for us, I would like to thank her! Really, the narration was awesome!

All in all, I will give this book 4 out of 5 stars and I am looking forward for the next book in the series. There is a promise of so much more and right now I am struggling not to check out reviews for book 2. Happy reading/listening!

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Alex Lidell. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
