No one would understand that my submission empowered me, that I felt stronger kneeling at Gabriel’s feet than I ever had standing at Paul’s side.
Faye Austin seems to have it all–a fulfilling career, a successful husband, a beautiful home. But appearances can be deceptive and sometimes Faye can’t help thinking she’s living the wrong life. A lifetime of being compared to her beautiful younger sister, Ginny, has left her feeling second best, and a chance discovery while looking at her husband’s laptop has led her to realize that her marriage is not all it seems.
Then she meets the handsome Gabriel Scott, a man who likes to play sexual games of power and control, and suddenly everything makes sense. Gabriel’s natural dominance is so compelling that Faye feels her own submissiveness awakening in response, a reaction that both horrifies and excites her. She works with victims of domestic abuse and is adamant that no man will ever tell her what to do. But there’s something about Gabriel that draws her in and gives her a glimpse of who she really wants to be.
Can Gabriel give her what she needs? Or will Ginny get there first?

My Review

“A Fine Line” has something that has captured my attention from the blurb: seeing a woman that works with victims of domestic abuse enter a sub-dom relationship. Understanding all these aspects from her eyes is very refreshing and brings an interesting angle to the story.

Faye has had the illusion of a perfect life, with perfect job and perfect marriage, even if she may not have the best relationship with her sister. When secrets about her and Faye’s husband come to life, she realizes thing are not at all what they seam and that something is lacking. Meeting Gabriel has given her the chance to find this missing feeling: the feeling of safety. With all his… out of the ordinary methods, he gives her courage and makes her trust him with her all. And in my opinion, that’s the most important and interesting fact when it comes to our new couple.

Gabriel’s attempt at a married woman does not make him the most serious guy, but it does portray him as an opportunist. He sees a chance at a frail woman and he takes it. However, his intention is to bring out the shine in her, build back her confidence and show her how special and beautiful she really is.

The reason for my decreasing one star is because I would have wanted a resolution between Faye and her husband earlier in the book. While I understand that the idea is to rebuild her personality, I felt like this side was not solved in proper time. The ending brings a good solution to the problems and I am quite ok with how things turned out.

All in all, I liked it a lot and I liked the perspective of the book. The author did a wonderful job with our main characters and with illustrating Faye’s struggles and as well show the intensity of her relationship with Gabriel. 4 out of 5 stars and my congratulations 🙂
